Fallout Returns to Magic: The Gathering with New Secret Lair Drops: Release Date, Prices, and Details

New Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair cards featuring Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul from the Fallout TV series

Just as Season Two of the hit Fallout series approaches its conclusion, Wizards of the Coast is keeping the wasteland hype alive with a major new collaboration. Magic: The Gathering is officially returning to the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout through its exclusive Secret Lair line, offering collectors and players a fresh batch of “unmistakably irradiated” cards.

This latest release marks the second time the iconic RPG franchise has crossed over into the multiverse of Magic, following the successful release of four Fallout-themed Commander decks in 2024.

Beyond Vault 33: The TV Series Comes to Tabletop

The highlight of this new collection is the “Beyond Vault 33” drop, which bridges the gap between the live-action series and the card game. For the first time, the show’s core trio—Lucy MacLean, Maximus, and The Ghoul—will make their Magic debut.

Unlike simple reprints, these cards feature “new-to-Magic” designs, giving fans unique mechanics that reflect the characters’ on-screen personas. This drop is priced at a premium compared to the others in the lineup:

  • Non-Foil: $40
  • Foil: $50

New Vegas, Dogmeat, and Mothman: The Full Lineup

In addition to the TV show tie-in, Wizards of the Coast announced three other drops focusing on beloved elements of the game lore: dogs, the irradiated wasteland, and the fan-favorite setting of New Vegas.

Similar to the recent Monster Hunter collaboration, many of these cards are “reskins” or “reflavors” of established Magic staples, giving them a fresh Fallout coat of paint. Confirmed reflavors include:

  • “Mesmeric Orb” reimagined as “Mothman Egg”
  • “Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful” reimagined as “Dogmeat, Constant Companion”

These three additional drops—titled “Greet the Dog,” “Rad,” and “Welcome to New Vegas”—are priced slightly lower than the Vault 33 set:

  • Non-Foil: $30 each
  • Foil: $40 each

Release Date and How to Buy

Collectors should mark their calendars for Monday, January 26. The sale will follow the standard Secret Lair high-demand release protocol:

  • Pre-Queue Opens: 8:00 AM PT
  • Sales Go Live: 9:00 AM PT

A Growing Partnership

This drop continues Wizards of the Coast’s strategy of collaborating with major gaming franchises, which has previously included Final Fantasy and Assassin’s Creed. While there is no confirmation yet if Magic will “double dip” on Assassin’s Creed when its live-action adaptation eventually arrives, the success of this Fallout TV tie-in could set a precedent for future media crossovers.
